I am a food loving home cook and manage to surprise myself with what I am able to achieve from my tiny apartment kitchen in Melbourne, Australia. I’m passionate about working with seasonal produce, ideally sourced locally and getting back to the basics of good food and simple tastes.
Growing up on an orchard in country Victoria, I didn’t really appreciate the taste of a perfectly ripe peach plucked from the tree, taking that first bite into the lusciously juicy fruit with the juice running down my chin and hands, the glorious aroma and taste. Living from season to season and even at a young age understanding that an ill timed early frost could mean a lean year ahead if the crops suffered. Or indeed the joy and contentment on my parents faces when it was a bumper year.
It is only in recent years of being a city dweller that I have come to appreciate the simple pleasure of beautiful produce right at their peak. Cooking doesn’t have to be complicated, my recipes are in the whole simple, although some are time consuming. I am one of those folk who really gain great joy from the process as much as the consuming of food. I understand not everyone has the luxury of time or sees cooking as a relaxing process, hence I completely understand should you opt for shortcuts.
My aim is to bring back the joy of cooking and share just how easy it is to eat well, knowing that every dish you serve you know exactly what has gone into it especially the love.
My blog is my outlet to share my passion for food and all things food related, I look forward to sharing my experiences both in my kitchen and outside with you. I appreciate many of my lovely friends share their recipes and ideas with me and I hope to do justice to your hints and tips.
I am currently studying ‘Masters of Gastronomic Tourism’ with Southern Cross University and Le Cordon Bleu and work as a corporate training manager.
I hope you enjoy this journey with me.
