Melbourne in January has a range of temperatures, our beautiful city is well known for 4 seasons in one day, 2017 has not let us down. We can have 36 degrees top one day and 22 the next, nights range from 12-20. One thing for sure is during the last week of the first month, we almost always have more hot dry days. The reason I am so sure of this, not due to my amazing sharp memory I’m afraid. Melbourne hosts the Australia Open tennis, every year as I sit in my air conditioned lounge watching all the action, there never fails to be ‘talk’ of how difficult it is and how much hotter it is out there on centre court. Undoubtably friends and colleagues will be bearing a decent dose of sunburn having enjoyed an amazing day watching the tennis live.
My latest business idea is to set up an ice cream van selling Aperol Spritz Ice Blocks, they are absolutely delicious and of course extremely cooling hence I see a health benefit there.
Due to the alcohol content and the fact that there is no cream, they do melt rather quickly -well not for me as I tend to consume rather quickly.
Ingredients:
- 210 mls Aperol Aperitivo
- 210 mls Prosecco
- 180 mls soda water
Ice block set: Mine was purchased from Ikea I think I paid $1.99. Most kitchen stores tend to stock them in summer. My set has 6 sets and each holds 100 mls
Method:
Simply mix your three liquids and pour into you ice block set add the sticks, place in the freezer and wait.
I left mine overnight and they had set perfectly.
In the meantime ensure you mix a little extra to drink just to keep you going through the waiting time.
